Demand an End and Reverse of plot selling in the Forest Reserve 27.

The Forest Reserve No.27 has been the only remaining public protected area. It is located in the 15km East of Zambia's capital city Lusaka.
This reserve was set up to protect the source and flow of Chalimbana and Chongwe rivers which are are also recharged by this only large natural green space remaining in close proximity with Lusaka.
This reserve consists of miombo species (Zambia's indigenous species) and contributes to the draining of water from the rest of the city which is flat.
Destroying this area by construction and mining activities (Quarrying) will leave the city and the country in jeopardy as rain patterns in the city will also be affected coupled with other climatic adversity that comes with this act.
On the 17th August 2017, the president degazzetted the Forest Reserve No 27. A few months ago it was announced by public media that senior government officials and other rich folks have demarcated and shared the ForestReserve No 27.

I am in agreement with the stance of Transparency International Zambia-TIZ President Reuben Lifuka that the answers and justification given by Government inadequate and very unsatisfactory.

As a preamble, we wish to state that we are alive to the fact that under section 17 (1) of The Forests Act No. 4 of 2015, the Republican President has authority by Statutory Instrument to gazette and degazette any local forest in Zambia. And in exercising this authority the president is not obliged by law to state the purpose of his action. However, the practice has been that whenever this action is taken, it is for developmental reasons.
