Rita Ora's "Girls" Video Is Insulting and Trivializing. Ask For a Re-Do!

Rita Ora's "Girls" could have been the LGTBQ+ anthem of the summer. But the song, in which Ora is joined by hit singers like Cardi B and Charli XCX, has been hit with well-deserved criticism for trivializing bisexual and lesbian relationships.

Openly queer singers like Hayley Kiyoko and Kehlani have come out publicly against the song, calling it "dangerous", "marginalizing", and saying it "does more harm than good for the LGBTQ+ community."

Now the "Girls" video has been released — and it's definitely disappointing. Instead of learning from the public outrage and hiring a queer director to tell a fuller story of lesbian and bisexual relationships, the video doubles down on its male gaze. Sign and share to ask Rita Ora to re-do the video with a queer director!

The video's male director films Ora and other female stars lounging in sexy clothing and kissing for the camera — adding to the criticism that the song fetisheizes same sex attraction as a performance women do for male attention when intoxicated.

The "Girls" video shows that Rita Ora has not heard the criticism from the LBBTQ+ community — and this insulting video needs to be remade. Sign and share now to tell Rita Ora to re-make her "Girls" video with a queer female director!
