Demand to STOP a new ordinance prohibiting ownership of Livestock and Pets (for any commercial use) in Creola

The City of Creola with the assistance of the South Alabama Regional Planning Commission (SARPC) has included in the Draft Copy a new section.

SECTION 3.11 ANIMALS & LIVESTOCK
No animals, livestock or poultry of any kind shall be kept within city limits, except for house pets, provided they are not kept, bred or maintained for any commercial use or purpose.

This a loosely written section that can be interpreted a couple of different ways. Both of which serve to limit what you can do on YOUR private property.   This will impact anyone living in the City of Creola and those in Axis who are subject to Creola Zoning regulations.

For certain if your dog has puppies and after care and weaning you decide not to keep the full litter you have only two legal options: 1) you can give them away or 2) you can destroy them. You may not sell them without violating the proposed ordinance which carries a financial penalty.

It is our opinion that new regulations should not be imposed onto ALL of the citizens unless it is an undeniable fact that there is a valid reason to do so. Just because you can doesn't mean you should!
