Stop the Destruction of Beirut's Heritage

  • by: Ahmad Nassar
  • recipient: Residents of Beirut/All Lebanese

In 1990 Beirut emerged from the Civil War with over 1000 buildings that were deemed to be "historically significant." Skyrocketing real estate prices, corrupt politicians, and greedy developers have decreased this number to less than 250. If nothing is done we will have nothing to show our children of the beautiful, old Beirut of our forefathers. Please sign this petition to urge the government to enact a draft law that will protect what buildings we have left from the ruthless construction companies who want nothing but to completely gentrify Beirut's old buildings for the benefit of an elite, small minority.
