I am an C.N.A.(certified nursing assistant) in Tampa, florida where state law dictates how many patient-residents I may service at one given time or a ratio. The Nursing profession should also be included in the change of ratios in order to better serve patient-residents. In order to do this the ratio for C.N.A.'s and Nurses has to be changed from the current ratio of 20-1 For C.N.A.'S and 40-1 for nurses for the night shift. During the day shift ratios will vary depending upon needs. I intend to to submit legislation in my state to change the above ratios from 20-1 to 10-1 for C.N.A.'S and for Nurses from 40-1 to 15-1 as a team in order to properly serve patient-residents wherever I may be employed.Beause of medical errors being made it is imperative that these ratio changes be made. I am sure that any of you who are health professionals want to see these changes be made to poroperly take care of patient-residenta.
