Deforestation in the Amazon is Threatening Adorable Capybaras!

The Amazon Rainforest is best known as the lush, wildly biodiverse giant forest that helps regulate our planet's climate. But if deforestation continues at this rate, the rainforest will no longer be a rainforest at all – it will literally turn into a dry savannah. And if savannization happens, thousands of land mammals, including the beloved capybara, will lose their essential habitat.

Luckily, a new law could help save the capybara by preventing U.S. contributions to Amazonian deforestation!

Sign now to tell Congress to finally pass the FOREST Act to stop U.S. contributions to deforestation in the Amazon!

Capybaras are the largest living rodent, found exclusively in South America. These sweet mammals are excellent swimmers, and can comfortably be underwater for as long as 5 minutes at a time! Capybaras also are known for their hilarious dog-like barks and their gregariousness in large groups.

While capybaras are beloved, and many people care about their conservation, they are at high risk for species impacts if deforestation in the Amazon continues. The FOREST Act would help stop illegal deforestation by prohibiting any products linked to illegal deforestation from entering the U.S., let alone being sold here.

Congress must sign the FOREST Act to protect the Amazon and all of the capybaras living in it! Sign the petition now if you agree!
