This hero cop saved lives during the Pulse shooting, now he's being fired

This is no way to treat a hero. Angel Colon might well be dead right now if not for the courageous efforts of Eatonville police officer Omar Delgado, who brought him to safety during the 2016 mass shooting at Orlando, Florida's Pulse Nightclub.

"God sent him, and he was my hero that night," Colon told a local television station. "Without him, who knows if I would have stayed inside that club and not made it out?"

Forty-nine people were killed during the massacre at Pulse. It was — at the time — the most lethal mass shooting of its kind in American history.

Shockingly, the town of Eatonville has decided to fire Officer Delgado, who understandably now suffers from post traumatic stress syndrome — right before the holidays.

Surely, Eatonville can and should allow Officer Delgado to remain on the force to continue protecting and serving the community in a different role. Officer Omar Delgado performed a genuinely heroic act. He deserves better than this year-end dismissal.

Stand with Officer Delgado! Urge the Eatonville Town Council to reverse Delgado's dismissal and assign this hero cop to an appropriate role in police department.
