On September 7, 2009, I was taken to a place in my life where I never expected to be. It was right after Labor Day, and it was a bad weekend, the kind that shakes your whole foundation. I made one bad decision after another, and I ended up driving myself almost to my doom. It was 4:30 in the morning, I had been drinking, and I got behind the wheel. At 81 mph I spilled some beer on my new sandals I had just bought and my car swerved out of control. I tried to correct but naturally over-corrected. My car landed in a ditch, hit a culvert, and popped a wheelie. I was ejected out my sunroof, well, all but my right leg. My car rolled six times with me still attached to it. I broke 13 bones in my back, shoulder, pelvis, arms, legs, ribs, and sternum. I punctured a lung, too.
