9/11 Hero Has Died - Name New York Street After Him

Thomas Phelan was a ferry captain on September 11th, 2001 and a hero. He bravely ferried hundreds out of lower Manhattan that horrible day and tragically, was diagnosed up with cancer from inhaling the toxic dust in the air from that day. He sadly passed away from that cancer on Sunday, March 18th and now it's time for New York City to honor him by naming a street after him.

Please sign this petition if you would like to have a street in New York City named after Thomas Phelan, the hero who saved hundreds on 9/11.

Phelan not only ferried hundreds of civilians out of Manhattan, he also brought rescue workers and supplied to ground zero. He was working as a Statue of Liberty ferry captain at the time and gave no thought to his own life and immediately jumped into action to help. This man truly exemplifies the best thing to come out of that day: unity and bravery and selflessness of all the people involved.

After 9/11, Thomas Phelan became a New York City Firefighter and spent the rest of his life continuing on his heroic and selfless path.

Sign on if you'd like to see a street in New York City honoring this amazing man who ended up dying as the result of his rescue work.
