This is to petition for parking permits for kelso rd. The block area is bordered on the west by Esmond and on the east by Indianola.
With the reduction in parking spaces at the new Crest gastropub many of the customers are parking on kelso to avoid having to valet park and in order to be close to the tavern.
The additional parking on kelso has made it impossible to park in front of homes and many have to carry groceries and children an additional distance. Some of the homes have big garages and can park behind their homes but for those of us who do not have accessible garages, it has made it impossible to park in front of our homes. The most difficult times seem to be between 4pm and 12am most days of the week. The additional traffic has increased noise on the street and has affected the safety of all concerned. Cars are traveling well above the 25 mph and their are at least 9 children under the age of 9 on our street.
The parking permits would limit the parking on our street from 4pm to 12 am. It is felt by those on Kelso that it is not necessary to provide for parking permits during the day.
It is also difficult to recognize those cars that belong on our street and those just looking to do some damage of commit a crime.
