I Stand with Charlie the Pit Bull

The city of Lakewood Ohio has banned pit bulls as a breed for a decade. The city will not judge the individual dogs on a case-by-case basis.

Jennifer Scott is a resident who gained permission from city officials to adopt a pit bull. But when the puppy got loose one day -- as puppies sometimes do -- the Lakewood animal warden told her she would have to have a hearing in order to keep him, strictly because of his breed.

We citizens request that the City of Lakewood Mayor and City Council reconsider this prejudicial ordinance and judge each animal's fitness on a case-by-case basis, rather than condemning an entire breed based on the actions of a few irresponsible owners.
