In 1989 Quassy Amusement Park Decided to break up and sell their antique carousel, and Wurlitzer 153, the whole machine, went up on the auction block immediately 28 years ago, without consent of the people of Middlebury Conneticut, or the Community, it was broken up and sold at auction without warning, everthing was gone in a blink of an eye. I do believe several people in the area were infact heartbroken of it's dispersion from the lake front property, not even the thrills and shakes on the wooden warrior, could ever replace this beautiful machine, it was the last carousel ever constructed, by The Edward Joy Morris Company of Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1902, before selling in to the famed Philadelphia Tobbogan Company, the Cadillac of all carousel craftsman. My plan is to track down all of the animals, frame, machinery, rounding boards, floor, light fixtures, Wurlitzer 153 band organ, and reunite them at Lake Quassy Amusement Park fully restored, and working.
