Please SIGN and SHARE this petition! We want to VOTE on the future of Wasatch School District's spending! We have ONE Taj Mahal High School, now we have to have another bigger one? The Wasatch School District has decided to bypass the citizen's November vote, and instead is trying to pass a $150 MIL Lease Revenue Bond (LRB) to build the new high school in the North Fields, that was recently voted down by 57% by the voters in 2019. Only the 5 school board members need to vote on this LRB, instead of all the voters of Wasatch County, Utah.
Also, a LRB is a SLUSH FUND, and is NOT earmarked for a specific use. At the end of the 30 year term of this LRB, it will total $283 MIL for one high school construction alone. No annual maintenance and operations costs are included in this LRB. Do you feel the Wasatch School District has gained your trust to be allowed to spend $150 Million any way they see fit?
The Wasatch School District told the public that there was only ONE Master Plan option from the Future Schools Project (FSP) Advisory Board's process, but that is NOT true. Another Master Plan proposal was presented to the Wasatch School District in April 2022, and the school district told these FSP members they would share it with the public. They never did, and quickly passed this LRB in July to try to out-manuever the citizens' input.
That option 2 would save the taxpayers $80 MIL just for the high school remedy, and it would only spend $130 MIL for the whole school district's construction needs for approx. 20 years.
