America's lawmakers have allowed our national debt to spiral out of control. Now, it is a $39 trillion burden on future generations:
- Upward pressure on inflation and interest rates contributes to higher costs
- Skyrocketing national debt weakens America's reputation abroad
- Fiscal chaos slows growth and threatens economic stability
And still, Congress continues to push through massive, unpaid-for bills that are built on partisanship, gimmicks, and budget breakdowns.
Congress must put the long-term fiscal health and prosperity of the country first and that means paying for their priorities. There are concrete steps they can take to accomplish this! For example, our lawmakers must bring back the "Conrad Rule," which would require that any new reconciliation bill NOT add to the deficit – it's a crucial move toward returning fiscal sanity to Capitol Hill. Solutions like this exist, but it is up to us to convince our lawmakers to protect our future.
