The Ethiopian Asylum Seekers Association in Norway
Vi minner om at UDI og Utlendingsnemnda har sluttet å behandle asylsøknader fra etiopisks asylsøkere. Dessuten har Utlendingsnemnda foreløpig sluttet å send hjem med tvang etiopiske asylsøkere som har fått avslag på asylsøknaden, på grunn av de stadig mer ekstreme menneskerettighetsbruddne i vårt land. Vi tror at myndighetene i Norge har nok av informasjon om den stadig verre politiske og sikkerhetsmessige situasjonen i Etiopia. UDI er godt kjent med at det finnes hundrevis av etiopiske asylsøkere som oppholder seg i Norge under meget vanskelige og usikre forhold.
Vi, asylsøkerne, er blitt skadelidende grunnet to ting, vår ekstremt vanskelige levevilkår i Norge, og de grove menneskerettighetsbruddene i Etiopia.
I Norge er vi blitt utsatt for en umenneskelig behandling som har vært skadelig for vår psykiske og fysiske helse. Vi klarer ikke denne uutholdelige situasjon og disse lidelsenne så veldig mye lenger, og vi ber på det innstigsle om at UDI må begynne å behandle våre søknader (anker), og om at myndighetene må innvilge oss status som flyktninger, som vi har rett til ifølge både internasjonal og norsk lovgivning.
Vi ber også om arbeidstillatelser mens våre saker behandles.

It is to be recalled that both the Immigration Directorate and Appeal Board have stopped the processing of asylum applications of Ethiopian asylum seekers. Besides, the Appeal Board has suspended the forced removal of rejected Ethiopian asylum seekers due to the ever-worsening human rights situation in our country.
We believe that the authorities have enough information about the deteriorating political and security situation in Ethiopia. The immigration authorities are fully aware of hundreds of such asylum seekers are staying in Norway under very difficult and uncertain situation.
We the asylum seekers have been suffering from the dual effects of our harsh living conditions in Norway and gross human right violation in Ethiopia. In Norway, we have been subjected to inhuman treatments, which have also taken their negative impact on our mental and physical health. We cannot bear this plight and suffering for a long time and we earnestly request the Immigration authorities to start processing our applications (appeals) and grant us the refugee protections we deserve in accordance with the International and Norwegian Laws. We also demand work permits to all of us while our cases are being processed.
