Help More Kids Access Quality Child Care

More than half of our nation's families live in a child care desert, where there aren't nearly enough child care slots to meet the need. For families around the country, child care is nearly impossible to find.

Without accessible, licensed child care, parents are left to find unregulated care which can be dangerous for children, or leave the workforce which reduces parents' earnings today and over the course of their careers. Given how critical the first years of children's lives are for their social, emotional and cognitive development, this is a problem we can't ignore.

That's why we need Congress to support the Child Care Facilities and Workforce Act (H.R.1488/S.605). This bill would help would provide grants to states to enable them to create state-specific plans to address the child care desert crisis.

Urge your members of Congress to support this bill today and help more kids access quality child care.
Subject: Cosponsor the Child Care Facilities and Workforce Act (H.R.1488/S.605)

Dear Decisionmaker,

I am concerned about the fact that more than half of our nation's families live in a child care desert. Child care deserts are neighborhoods or communities where there are more than three children for every licensed child care slot.

That's why I urge you to cosponsor the bipartisan Child Care Workforce and Facilities Act (H.R.1488/S.605). This bill would help to address the shortage of affordable child care and qualified child care professionals by providing competitive grants to states to support (1) the education, training, or retention of the child care workforce or (2) building, renovating, or expanding child care facilities in areas with child care shortages.
