With supply chains and markets closed, there are growing food shortages in a continent where, before this pandemic, 239 million people were already hungry. Women and girls are at risk in developing countries as hunger, unemployment and frustrations grow.
While many around the world will survive the virus, in regions where healthcare systems are unable to respond effectively, are ill-equipped or virtually nonexistent, the odds are uncertain.
