COVID-19 is Disproportionately Impacting Women and Girls Worldwide: Take Action!

The economic and social impacts of COVID-19 around the world are severe, and even more so for vulnerable women and girls in Africa. Women are on the frontlines of the pandemic as caregivers providing for their families and communities despite being in great danger themselves.

Confinement and quarantine measures aimed at reducing the spread of the virus led to an explosion of domestic violence. With supply chains and markets closed, there are growing food shortages in a continent where, before this pandemic, 239 million people were already hungry. Women and girls are at risk in developing countries as hunger, unemployment and frustrations grow.

While many around the world will survive the virus, in regions where healthcare systems are unable to respond effectively, are ill-equipped or virtually nonexistent, the odds are uncertain. Learning from the 2014-2016 Ebola outbreak, we know that in remote rural areas, the consequences of this lack of infrastructure on local precarious communities will be devastating. That is why we need you right now.

Crossroads International together with its African partners is leveraging global expertise and mobilizing local leaders to address the vital concerns of health, violence, abuse, and food security so that women and girls around the world are not standing alone during this pandemic. But we can't do it alone. Will you stand with us to protect the rights of women and girls? Sign here to join with Crossroads?

Will you join Crossroads International and take action for women and girls at risk facing the COVID-19 pandemic?
