Stand with Palestinians: halt the 'deal of the century'

The Deal of the Century was Donald Trump's plan to 'solve' long-standing problems in the Middle East. It involved rallying together some of the world's most repressive regimes, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain to create a new set of political alliances.

The deal was supposed to be about peace and prosperity, but in reality is one of the biggest catastrophes facing the Palestinian people in this lifetime, and puts human rights across the Middle East at even greater risk. Now, Donald Trump's presidency is coming to end, but the threat to the Palestinian people remains as urgent as it ever has been.

Far from a negotiation between two equal parties, the so-called 'deal of the century' seeks to strip millions of Palestinian refugees of their rights and to allow Israel to annex even more of the occupied West Bank. It adds yet another layer to the brutal and systematic violence and human rights abuses Palestinians have endured over the last 73 years of occupation and dispossession.

Now, as President-elect Joe Biden prepares to enter the White House, we are calling on the UK government, parliamentarians and civil society organisations to uphold the principles of international law and justice, and defend the collective rights of the Palestinian people.
