Don't Let Forcibly Displaced Women and Girls Miss Out on Education

When it comes to giving young women and girls skills and confidence, access to education is a must. Yet, many refugees are far removed or have little access due to cultural attitudes and economic challenges. Preferential treatment is often given to boys when educational opportunities arise. Girls are often the first left out when money is scarce.

Moreover, many displaced girls experience sexual exploitation and violence during flight. Those who do make it to refugee camps are often forced into early marriage.

March 8th marks the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day. UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency, strives to create educational opportunities for uprooted women and girls who have limited access, while raising awareness about the gender disparity that often exists.

Add your name today to help spread the word about the importance of accessing education. Stand in solidarity with refugee women and girls, who want to empower themselves for brighter and confident futures.
