PETsMART GETsMART

Petco heard the message. Will PETsMART GETsMART? Tell them to stop selling large birds too...

Petco has agreed to stop selling large birds:  Amazons, African Greys, Cockatoos and Macaws.  Now is the time to tell PETsMART to GETsMART – they need to follow suit now.

It isn’t a solution to the bird problem, but it is a step in the right direction.  Most birds purchased at pet stores are impulse buys.  The larger, longer lived birds are at the highest risk.

The latest bird owner profile published by the pet industry states that the average an owner has a bird is only NINE years.  With species starting with a longevity of 25 years and going as high as 80-100 years – that is a very sad picture.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD – tell PETsMART GETsMART!!!
