These Border Officers Tried to Deport a Man Because 'He Looked Mexican'

A shocking video has recently emerged showing two U.S. Border patrol officers in Calexico, California manhandling a visibly injured and disoriented man while trying to deport him. The man, who could barely stand was handcuffed and left barefoot as officers held him in custody. When confronted by onlookers, one officer exclaimed that he had been doing the job for  20 years and that he knew what he was doing.

But according to international law, officers must first determine the nationality of a suspect before initiating deportation or go through the consulate of the corresponding country. That is not what happened.

The officers violated the man's rights and broke international law because they wanted to get this man "back to his country" at all costs. The man was eventually processed correctly, but the fact remains that these two officers don't know how to do their job, and racially profiled and abused a disoriented man simply because of the way he looked.

Border Patrol has an incredible amount of power. Now that Trump has come into office and has unleashed his border officers and the National Guard to the southern frontier, it is more important than ever that these men and women follow the law, not abuse it.

The two officers in the video are clearly unable to do so.

Please sign the petition and ask U.S. Border Patrol to fire the officers responsible for this horrible abuse of power.
