Child-friendly advertising during daytime hours

There is a serious trend towards adult content in advertising in commercials shown during football games on TV. There have been a number advertisements for night-time drama television shows that show a great deal of violence, with people threatening each other with guns and engaging in violent acts against each other. Recently, while watching the Saints vs. the Giants on Fox, there was an advertisement for "Lie to Me" a drama that airs at 9:00 pm, which was so disturbing, we needed to actually help our seven-year-old deal with the frightening nature of the images shown.
Football games are a family time, with generations coming together to root for their teams, whether at the stadium or watching the game on TV. It is offensive and upsetting when inappropriate content suddenly appears on the television in the middle of the day during a program that is meant to be child-friendly.
We the undersigned believe that there is a serious trend towards adult content in commercials shown during daytime programming such as football games on TV. There have been a number advertisements for night-time drama television shows that show a great deal of violence, with people threatening each other with guns and engaging in violent acts against each other.
Football games are a family time, with generations coming together to root for their teams, whether at the stadium or watching the game on TV. Though there is currently no rating system for advertisements, you should voluntarily adopt the same regulations that TV broadcasters use for the content allowed during daytime programming. Does the federal government really need to legislate reasonable behavior in the advertising community? Do what is right on your own. Do not frighten our children, or expose them to obscene content during hours when they should be safe from such things.
Thank you for taking the steps necessary to end this decline into irresponsible timing of mature content advertising on TV.
Sincerely,
