Tell Speaker O'Neal to Stop Using The Bible To Promote Hatred
A professed Christian, House Speaker O'Neal seems awfully fond of using his religion as an excuse for hatred. Speaker O'Neal recently asked other Republicans to pray for President Obama's demise.
O'Neal found his "prayer for Obama," in the Holy Bible - Psalm 109, verse 8, to be exact - which says, "Let his days be few; and let another take his office." Then he emailed the "prayer" to other Republicans calling for an "Amen."
O'Neal has apologized for this, says the Christian Post, not long after recanting his "YoMama," slur. O'Neal said he was referring only to one line in the Psalm, not those that followed, which clearly call for the death of the petitioner's target and the demise of his wife and children as well.
Whatever O'Neal's intent, with a million fans on a Facebook page calling for Obama's death, this is nothing for an elected official to play around with.
This Calls for More than Apology. Tell O'Neal to Resign.
We, the undersigned, are aware of your apologies for your insults to the First Lady and your implied threats against the President.
However, your apologies, at this point, are not enough.
With over a million fans on a Facebook page calling for the President's death, anyone holding a political office in the U.S. should be held responsible for conduct that encourages this kind of attitude, whether intended or not.
Mr. Speaker, It's three strikes, and you're out. It's time to resign.
Your attention to this matter is appreciated.
