Stop Bans on Abortion Coverage - They're Misleading, Unfair and Dangerous

During the 2011 Minnesota legislative session, anti-choice legislators voted to ban the constitutional right to choose for low-income women. They wanted to take away their ability to decide what is best for themselves and their families. They believe low-income women, many who are women of color, do not deserve the right to self-determination.

A 1995 ruling by the Minnesota Supreme Court says that if the state will pay for childbirth, it must also pay for abortion care. This means that the state’s public health coverage for low-income women cannot discriminate as to which pregnancy-related services it will cover.

Simply put: medical assistance gives low-income women autonomy over their own lives and the ability to make the best decisions possible.

Urge our leaders to stop the war on poor Minnesotans -- because all Minnesotans deserve to live their lives with dignity.
Dear Minnesota legislator,

I am a proud Minnesotan.

I am also pro-choice.

I will fight to protect my reproductive rights and those of every Minnesotan, including those on medical assistance, because I believe all Minnesotans deserve to live their lives with dignity.

I will empower my friends and family to do the same. And we will vote November, 6, 2012.

Sincerely,
[your name]
