Canada Goose: stop using real fur and become a Fur Free Retailer

Canada Goose produce jackets with real coyote fur trim. The coyotes are trapped in the wild and suffer extreme pain and distress.

In 2017 they opened a store in London which was met with huge protests. Canada Goose responded by taking out a court injunction but a High Court judge said Canada Goose's actions 'unreasonably restricted people's right to freedom of assembly and expression'.

Fur trapping, using steel leg-hold traps (long banned in the UK), causes animals to suffer pain and injuries for prolonged periods. In their desperate attempts to escape, some even chew off their own limbs. The use of steel-jawed leghold traps is banned across Europe, including the UK, due to their inherent cruelty. Shame on Canada Goose for using fur from animals trapped in this way.

The fur trade is an unethical industry. There simply is no such thing as 'humane' fur.

We call on Canada Goose to join Gucci, the North Face, Zara and Michael Kors by becoming a Fur Free Retailer.

The Fur Free Retailer program is an initiative Respect for Animals runs in the UK. Fur Free Retailers have made a commitment to sell no real fur. By signing up, these outlets have proven that they are socially responsible and that they care about animals. Canada Goose can end its association with unnecessary animal cruelty by joining the momentum towards fur free fashion.

You can see the list of retailers- and more on the initiative- on the website (http://www.respectforanimals.org/fur-free-retailers).
