Support a Soda Tax to Help Pay for Health Services!

Illinois is considering placing a tax on soda to help pay for Medicaid and programs that help curb obesity. The HEAL (Healthy Eating and Active Living) Act would raise an estimated $600 million for these efforts.

In addition to preventing Medicaid cuts, soda tax revenue would help improve access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and would help fund safe places for children to exercise and play.

Sugary soda contributes to obesity. It makes sense to discourage soda purchases with a tax, while using the revenue for programs that promote health. Please sign the petition to urge Illinois legislators to pass the HEAL Act!
