Change the proposed Ward 3 Safe Injection Site LOCATION

WE are NOT against Safe Injection sites in Ward 3. But Ward 3 is a HUGE area from lake to the escarpment, and Wellington to Ottawa Sts. It makes NO sense to spend our money and resources in an area with such low overdose rates. This will draw MORE opioid drug users to our neighbourhood.

Small businesses in the area have lost countless hours in the past 4 weeks, researching data and reaching out to officials to understand why this decision was made with little/no community consultation. This information should have been readily available to all who wanted to see it. These hours are now lost to these business owners during what is already an incredibly hard time to stay afloat.

Nrinder Nann, Ward 3 Councillor, gave 3 days notification in her online newsletter to voice opinions about the Safe Injection Site proposed at 746 Barton St East.

- This location is within 200m of a grade school and daycare.

- Businesses on this block are already struggling with 4 closing their doors in the last year. This will not draw new customers.

- The location of the proposed Safe Injection Site unnecessarily puts our children and our local businesses at risk without helping most of those in need of such facility.

What can you do? Voice your extreme objection to Nrinder Nann, Councillor Ward 3 Hamilton, for her lack of transparency through this process AND help move this site to where it is MOST NEEDED.
Reach out to Jeff Valentine, owner of Hamilton restaurants John Street Diner and Jet Cafe. He is the landlord of the proposed site, so he stands to gain financially from the neighborhood's misfortune.
