ASU Won't Expel Rapist Because He Has 3.9 GPA

  • recipient: James Rund, Senior Vice President for Educational Outreach and Student Services
A male student raped a female student while she was too drunk to consent. But the board recommends he doesn't get expelled because he has a 3.9 GPA and is a valuable member of a research team in engineering.

What do a student's grades and work have to do with whether they are a violent criminal? Nothing.

Sign the petition to tell ASU Senior Vice President, with whom the final decision rests, to ignore this recommendation and expel this dangerous student now.

As per usual, people in power have decided that the life of the perpetrator is more important than the life of their victims. ASU obviously doesn't care about the safety of the other students who could become this guy's victims. And they obviously don't care about Brooke Lewis, who bravely spoke out about this.
Update #26 years ago
ASU campus rape survivor Brooke has been subjected to a traumatizing and stressful investigation process that has caused her to become sick, which led to losing her job. She is now struggling to cover living expenses and legal fees. Please show your support for this brave women by donating to her GoFundMe page and sharing this petition.
Update #16 years ago
Thankfully, the ASU Vice President saw through this recommendation and upheld the perpetrator’s expulsion.

But the rapist has 15 days to appeal and he probably will, so we need to keep the pressure up. It’s often in these quiet times right after a preliminary decision that the powers that be make the wrong choice because fewer people are watching. Share now to support my campaign!
