Oppose Harmful Commercial Net Exclusion Zone in Mississippi, USA

The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources is attempting to ban the the use of all commercial nets around Cat Island by creating a one-mile commercial net exclusionary zone around the island. Cat Island is one of the last and most productive barrier islands in the Mississippi Sound that commercial fisherman have access to. This rule would put the commercial fisherman from the region in financial peril.

Tell the Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources that you oppose this proposed regulatory change to Title 22, Part 05; Chapter 04, Section 101.05 that would ban the use of commercial nets year round from working within one-mile of Cat Island and that you support hard-working commercial fishermen.

Update #15 years ago
Great news! We were able to ensure that commercial shrimp nets would not be included in this proposed one-mile Cat Island, MS commercial net exclusion zone at the last MS Commission on Marine Resources meeting. However; we are encouraging all commercial fishermen and seafood lovers to stand united with out fellow net fishermen and continue to oppose this politically motivated attack on hard-working fishing families! Please continue to share this petition to help us defeat the agenda of the CCA!
