Elephant Butte, NM is now requiring the owners of Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and German Shepherds to carry an extra $100,000 personal property liability.insurance. The have further classified these breeds as potentially dangerous dogs.
We would never ask people to have extra insurance because a few in their ethnic group had transgressions in their past, so why are we for dogs
We the undersigned feel that this new policy regarding dog breeds is a major step in the wrong direction. It is the same principle as racism, like asking a group of people to have extra insurance because in the past they had committed some indiscretion. We are asking you to repeal this law and seek a new alternative. Thank you for taking the time to consider our position.
