The Trump administration has opened up almost all U.S. waters to offshore drilling, and at the same time has been weakening Obama-era safety rules and environmental protections enacted after the Deepwater Horizon spill, according to a new report by Oceana.
On April 20, 2010, when the BP Deepwater Horizon exploded, 11 people died, more than 210 million gallons of oil poured into the ocean and polluted over 1,300 miles of shoreline.
Trump doesn't care. Earlier this month he signed executive orders named "Unleashing American Energy" making it easier for companies to develop oil and gas projects and harder for states to stop them.
Please sign my petition calling on the Department of the Interior to end the expansion of offshore drilling, to increase the number of inspections of oil drilling and to stop using industry-written standards as their guideline.
