Save Our Youth

We, the undersigned, citizens do hereby petition the following:

  1. Parents of violent youth offenders must take responsibility for the actions of our children
  2. Our current penal system does nothing to rehabilitate offenders
  3. Our politicians will not take any real action until we take a legitimate stand to make our voices heard.
  4. As long as we continue to live and fear and do nothing the current situation will only worsen.
  5. All citizens have a right to feel safe in their communities

We the undersigned, are asking that parents of repeat offenders receive consequences as well. This would take place in the form of completing training with a family intervention specialist to provide assistance in parenting skills. In addition the needs of the family would be assessed and assistance would be provided where needed, i.e. job training, education, employment, drug counseling, housing relocation, etc. The parent and the child would remain on probation for a length of time determined by nature of the crime at the discretion of our legal system.
