Stop the Sale of "Dateable: Are You? Are They?" on Amazon

"Dateable: Are You? Are They?" is a coming-of-age guide written by Justin Lookadoo and Hayley DiMarco, intended for teenagers who are interested in starting to date. While a cautionary word for newcomers to romance isn't a bad thing, the book contains outright unacceptable passages that reinforce harmful gender stereotypes and damage a young person's view of both their own and the opposite sex.

The following is actual passage from the book...

"Don’t tease the animals. Have I mentioned that guys are visual? They get turned
on by what they see. So listen: please, PLEASE don’t tease us. To show us your hot little body and then tell us we can’t touch is being a tease. You can’t look that sexy and then tell us to be on our best behavior."

Additionally, the author, Justin Lookadoo, speaks regularly at high schools and came under fire several years ago for telling high school students that "Dateable girls know when to shut up." He also was affiliated with Exodus, a now-defunct gay conversion therapy group.

His work may have a place but it's not on Amazon, where parents purchase the book thinking they're helping their teens navigate personal relationships when in reality, they're hurting them.
