The White-Winged Guan , is endemic to Peru. This bird was firstly discovered in 1876,after a few years it is believed to be extinct because of over hunting till 1977 when it had been rediscovered, it has a strong voice can be heard from up to three kilometers away, its population is about 149 individuals according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), it is classified as Critically Endangered according to (IUCN) and listed on CITES in Appendix I .
Threats are over hunting and poaching because of their meat which looks similar to the turkeys in North America, hampered reintroduction efforts, habitat destruction (timber, artisanal woodcraft, charcoal and firewood ), Mining where mining companies took the land in the northern part of White-winged Guan range in 2008, it’s nothing new to say that most conservation challenges arise from human actions.
