Historic Designation of Apple Tree in Telluride, CO.

This is an important tree to the entire town, and many people come to pick and enjoy these apples. Its a community gathering place and brings joy to a lot of kids in town.
This tree is on public land.
There is construction near the tree, and I am concerned about the tree getting cut down or hurt due to interference with its roots and soil.
This tree is a place i can visit to let all my worries go and feel connected to nature. If something happens to this tree it's most likely to never grow again. This could just be another species we cause to go extinct.
I also want to historically designate the tree so that the town will care for it. This fall, many bears have caused damage to this tree, and I am concerned that the tree will not continue to thrive or fruit without some care.
