STOP the Marleigh Farm Cell Tower

This Petition is to OPPOSE and STOP the proposed installation of a cell tower by T-Mobile in the commons area of Marleigh Farm Subdivision in Kennesaw, GA 30152 which is zoned as a residential area.

P.S. The proposed cell tower will be located within 100 feet of the playground you see to the left. Our children's safety is at risk. There have been studies on RF Radiation eminating from cell towers. They do show conclusively that there are health hazards associated with those located within 1 mile distance.

We, the following citizens, residents of Marleigh Farm Subdivision, as well as neighboring communities and private residences to Marleigh Farm
OPPOSE the placement of a cell tower and adjoining equipment to be located on the commons area of Marleigh Farm Subdivision in Kennesaw, GA 30152 for the following reasons:
1. The proposed cell tower does not belong near any area zoned for Single Family Residential Use.
2. The introduction of this structure into the landscape would forever alter the character of the Marleigh Farm Subdivision as well as neighboring communities.
3. A tower 120 ft in height or higher is directly out of scale with, and in great contrast to, the natural aesthetics of the surrounding area which consists of a children%u2019s playground where liabilities may exist if there are accidents because of the equipment. Not to mention health hazards imposed on those who live within a mile not to mention children in the commons area where they will directly be affected by the radiation produced by a cell phone tower.
4. It will lower property values of the single family homes in this residential community, and residents would seek lower tax assessments as a result of this tower. There are various appraiser journals and industry publications that support the arguments of reduced property values and cell phone towers.
5. If the MFHA board and Marleigh Farm community allows this tower and adjoining equipment to be constructed in a Single Family Residential Zoned area, the precedent will be set in stone. Many more towers will be popping up, perhaps next in other subdivisions close by if the need arises. The community will no longer have any recourse once a precedent has been set.
The proposed special use and development will have a substantial adverse effect upon adjacent property and the character of the neighborhood.
REQUEST that the MFHA Board
1. Determine if a legitimate need for a cell tower exists in the Marleigh Farm subdivision. This need should be verified by data from US Cellular and by Kennesaw resident user feedback.
2. Investigate less intrusive areas not located near residential neighborhoods that would be more suited to house a 120 ft cell tower and all accompanying equipment compounds and facilities. A suitable area would be one that would not have an adverse effect upon adjacent property or the character of the neighborhood.
