TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!

The V.P of Student Affairs should be participating in ALL aspects of institution-wide planning in support of the mission and goals of the university, including meeting the needs of a diverse student population and creating a learning environment where all students have the opportunity to succeed. The V.P of S.A is supposed to be responsible for the planning and direction of all programs in the offices of student leadership and engagement, residence life and housing, health center, counseling services, career services, and campus recreation however he has failed to perform to the standard of the college and the student body.

Since the re-hiring of our V.P of S.A there has been minimum effort to make sure the needs of the student body are being met. Our V.P of S.A met with student leaders on Friday December 1, 2017 where he confessed that he knows his department is NOT on target with the things they are supposed to be. He was asked if there was a plan to recuperate from his short comings and his reply was "it's not as simple as it looks." The V.P of S.A has yet to engage the student leaders to effectively include us in the development of the college's strategic plan. This is why the culture of the student body and student morale here at Edward Waters College is disappointingly low because there is no shared governance with the student body. Additionally, The V.P S.A "CLAIMS" that he advocates for the student body, but that is clearly impossible when he does not even know the student body.

The state of our dorms, social life, and culture is a huge reflection of what he has failed to do. The dorms are crawling with rats and roaches. Mold and mildew are growing up our walls and onto students personal property and also making our students sick. Our social life is in critical condition because on a college campus there should be far more events implemented by The Department of Student Affairs which would help us to build our brand and our resumes, teach us professionalism and strengthen our leadership. These things would help us as students to be proud of our school.

Our current V.P of S.A DOES NOT know the student body and has not taken any visible steps to get to know the student body. We shared with him at the Dec, 1 meeting that the students want him and other administrators to be more visible and his response was "you all see us twice a year at the president's social." Based upon his statement, someone who we only see twice a year at scheduled events CAN NOT possibly reach the mission of engaging the student body because he is a complete stranger to us.

ITS TIME FOR A CHANGE, we must come together and get Dr. Eric Jackson removed from the position of Vice President of Student Affairs. We have to start advocating for ourselves and our college. This is a start and most definitely will not be the last step in making our dear school better and stronger.
