Get rid of NGRI and/use Guilty but Insane

My name is Jeana West. In December of 2012 my son Generro Sanchez was murdered by a college classmate. In July of 2015, Jerrod Murray was found NGRI (Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity). Mr. Murray was sentenced to a state hospital for an undetermined period of time. Due to the fact that all parties involved agreed that Jerrod was insane at the time that he murdered my son, he will never have to stand accountable for his actions.

The law in Oklahoma needs to be changed. I would like to see Oklahoma either abolish the insanity plea, or give the courts more of an option of finding the offender guilty but insane so the person can still get the help that they need as well as standing accountable for their actions.

Insanity should not be an excuse for a violent offender to get away scott free.

Please do not let another family endure the NGRI process.  The victims deserve to have some sort of justice after loosing our loved ones to a henious crime such as murder.  My son did nothing wrong other than try to befriend someone who wanted nothing but to cause harm.  I didn't receive the justice that I felt I should have gotten for my baby.
