impeach Trump

    A petition calling on the Congress to impeach President Donald J. Trump for violating his constitutional duty to take care that the laws of the United States be faithfully executed.

    The House Judiciary Committee's 1974 report, Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment states that impeachment "is to be predicated only on conduct seriously incompatible with either the constitutional form and principles of our government or the proper performance of constitutional duties of the presidential office." The Constitution's Supremacy Clause (Article VI, Clause 2) establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties made under its authority, constitute the supreme law of the land. As the U.S. is a member of the U.N. Security Council, Article 6 makes the rules of the U.N. Charter binding on the U.S. government. Chapter I, Article 2 sentence 4 of that charter states explicitly that "All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.

    On September 19, 2017, in his speech at the U.N. the president said, "The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea." This threat clearly violates the terms of the U.N. charter and therefore can be construed a violation of Federal law as well. Moreover, such a statement prevents the president from performing his constitutional duty of conducting foreign affairs implied by Article II, Section 3, clause 3 of the Constitution and makes a mockery of the constitutional form and principles of our government.

    Wherefore, we the undersigned call upon the Congress to impeach the president and remove him from office.
