Firstly, because we live in a digital age,
Ginger's entire horrific ordeal was captured on video. From his kidnapping to his subsequent brutal torture, we have evidence of every moment.
Ginger was on his owner's porch when he was snatched up, and either CCTV or cell phone footage shows him being carried away. Then, some time later, a friend of Ginger's owner was on
Snapchat and saw the unthinkable:
videos of Ginger being held down, shaved with an electric razor that did not have any safety guards on it, and
meowing as his attackers laughed and called him names.The second detail that makes this incident truly upsetting is that
Ginger's attackers appear to be minors. What possessed these kids to hurt an animal like this is hard to imagine, but it makes it clear that they need serious help -- in the form of mental health counseling, at the very least.
Ginger's owner just wants justice for her poor pet, who she will never get to pet, cuddle, or love on again. We echo that call, while highlighting that these kids must be stopped before they do something like this to another animal.
