Bring Static Shock Back!

Static Shock is an American animated television series based on the Milestone Media/DC Comics superhero Static. The show revolves around Virgil Hawkins, an American boy of African descent, who uses the secret identity of Static after exposure to a mutagen gas during a gang fight gave him electromagnetic powers. Part of the DC animated universe, the series was produced by Warner Bros. Animation from a crew composed mostly of people from the company's past shows but also with the involvement of two of the comic's creators, Dwayne McDuffie and Denys Cowan.

Static Shock is one of my favorite cartoons. One of the best things about this show is how real life topics such as school shootings and gangs are easily worked into the plot without feeling fake. The cartoon feels very relatable because Static Shock (Virgil Hawkins) was African American just like most of the kids and pre-teens who watched the show, more then African American children enjoyed the show, it was enjoyed by a ride variety of races and ages. Other topics include racism, judging by appearance, the loss of a family member, and more. Virgil and Richie, regardless of their differences and race made the best friends duo work without coming across as cheesy or unreal, and they both deal with the problems they face maturely.
