Did You Know:
- Sentencing Circles was never intended for
Violent Crimes such as
Murder.
- Sexual Offenses and DUI's are not eligible for Sentencing Circle.
-Sentencing Circles are for minor / less serious crimes such as Shoplifting and vandalism etc.
Goals - The goals of sentencing circles include:
- Promote healing for all affected parties.
- Provide an opportunity for the offender to make amends.
- Empower victims, community members, families, and offenders by giving them a voice and a shared responsibility in finding constructive resolutions.
- Address the underlying causes of criminal behavior.
- Build a sense of community and its capacity for resolving conflict.
- Promote and share community values.
Note: If this person is eligible for a Sentencing Circle then all Provincial and Federal inmates should also be eligible for this same consideration of a sentencing Circle. If not, is this a violation of their "Rights" as an Aboriginal Person.
Note: If the Truro Provincial Court does not want to deal with my Mother's Murder case, First Nation people need to petition the Government for resources so they can have full control over their own Justice System.
