We need a rethink on Tollgate Village Planning decision

On Thursday 18th February, Colchester Borough Council voted against giving an exciting shopping centre at Tollgate Planning permission. They believe this is the correct decision as they wish to 'protect' the town centre. We believe the Town Centre can thrive with Tollgate Village attracting thousands of extra people into Colchester.

Eight Councillors voted against this plan, despite, late last year, this project given a provisional green light. That's not all: two Councillors who voted for the plan in the original meeting could not attend last night, and were replaced by two others, who voted against! Local Councillors claim they know public feeling, but we think they are very wrong. If you feel the same, please sign, and pass on our petition.

We will present this petition to the Council, and even if nothing changes, it will at least show these people how out of touch they are with local feeling. Colchester is growing very fast, our needs are changing. Sadly, the local Council, does not recognise this, the town centre and Tollgate could have both been winners in this farce. This Council (famous for Vineyard gate shopping centre - waiting now 10 years plus) has no vision, and despite many of them getting their place on the Council with 4 or 500 votes are completely off point with this project. Please sign and share, and let's see how real Colchester People think. Thank you.

Please continue to share our petition, particularly on Facebook, as we need to get 1800 signatures to trigger a full Council debate. We are standing at over 600 in just 6 hours and there is no time limit. Would love further support.
