FREE TIBET
Since 1950, China has subsequently tried to pressurise and take control over TIBET. Since the 14th Dalai Lama took refuge in India, China has killed millions of Tibetans. Over 10000 Tibetans are sheltering in Dharamshala, India alone, besides having a country of their own. Between 20000 to 1000000 Tibetans died in The Great Leap Forward and almost 6000 monasteries completely destroyed in the Cultural Revolution.With the Chinese policy of resettlement of Chinese to Tibet, Tibetans have become a minority in their own country. Chinese is the official language. Compared to pre-1959 levels, only 1/20 monks are still allowed to practice, under the government's watch.Famines have appeared for the first time in recorded history, natural resources have been destroyed.
There is no freedom of speech, expression or media. The BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS HAVE BEEN DENIED. Residents have been/ are being brutally abused by the Chinese. Tibetan women face forced abortions and sterelization.
WHY TIBET?
Tibet had been independently ruled in it's history but today Tibetian culture is at the verge of extinction. You might say there are many other nations facing the same, but TIBET never got a chance, TIBET is the face of change we need to bring. Today, it is TIBET, tomorrow it could be your identity in danger. Tibet's natural and cultural heritage is endangered and this is the face of it!
HOW WILL IT CHANGE MY LIFE?
All my life, I've lived surrounded by Tibetians. Their culture is beautiful and peaceful. But there's ache in being a refugee in a different land, where people speak different tongues, while Tibetians become a minority in their own country, where will Tibetian culture go??? I request you all to sign this petition and help all the Tibetians worldwide. A free Tibet is what will grant peace and happiness to the Tibetian community, further a better human life to it's residents, a chance to be free and to live and preach their heritage.
Before leaving Tibet, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama said -"I might come back", let's make his words true and help TIBET gain it's true identity because THE CHANGE IS IN YOUR HANDS.
