Conservative MPs, Don't Delay Same-Sex Marriage in the UK!

Plans to legalise gay marriage in England and Wales are under threat due to an amendment that has been tabled by a group of Conservative MPs.

David Cameron, the Conservative Prime Minister, has said that equal marriage would help build a stronger and fairer society. In spite of this, a group of Conservative critics, led by Tim Houghton MP, have been attempting to amend the bill, with a plan to extend civil partnerships to heterosexual couples. Same-sex marriage supporters, including Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister, have warned that this could delay the bill or derail it entirely.

Don’t let Conservative MPs play politics with our equal rights! The bill has passed the House of Commons and is now headed to the House of Lords, where it is expected to face further opposition. Please sign the petition and let Conservative MPs know that we demand equal rights, and we demand them now.

Dear [Decision Maker],

Please save the equal marriage bill! The amendment proposed by Tim Houghton could delay the bill by years, or derail it altogether. Everyone deserves the same rights and to be treated equally under the law.

Please, respect the right of same sex couples to express their love for one another. Pass the equal marriage bill.

Thank you for your time.
