Take Away the NRA's Tax Exempt Status, Now!

The National Rifle Association, incorporated as a social welfare organization and thereby tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501c4, functions mainly for private interests such as the arms and ammunition industries. Further, it stands in the way of sensible gun safety laws and, through large campaign contributions, has even prevented the CDC from researching the impact of gun violence on U.S. society. It is time to strip this organization, which represents a danger to our nation, of their tax exempt status.
