Implant Mental Health Awareness in Schools

This petition is created in order to bring mental health awareness into both public and private school curriculum. Some kids today may be struggling with a mental health issue, by implementing awareness/education into the curriculum it allows kids to learn about what they may be experiencing. Not enough education is provided regarding mental health, mental health issues can be found in all different types of people. Mental health can include anxiety, depression, OCD, and bipolar. It is important for kids to know what the signs are and how it can be treated. By providing this information it reminds students that they are not alone in this process. A mental health counselor should also be implemented in schools that way students can converse with a professional. This policy change supports the NASW Social Work Code of Ethics 1.01, commitment to clients because it is this social worker's job to make sure a student is receiving the proper education about mental health. For a client who has no other resources regarding mental health, adding it in the school curriculum would benefit his/her well-being.
