This Candidate for Governor Thinks Slavery Was OK

If you didn't already suspect Ron DeSantis, the GOP nominee for governor of Florida was a shameless bigot, here's your confirmation.

The candidate — who already found himself in hot water, when he suggested that voting for his African-American opponent would "monkey things up" for the state — has recently been discovered as the author of a book excusing slavery.

Using a title that clearly borrowed from President Obama's best selling "Dreams from My Father," in 2011 DeSantis co-authored "Dreams from Our Founding Fathers: First Principles in the Age of Obama." In the book, he mocks Obama's biracial heritage and questions his religious affiliation. That, all before he sets off on a long and often nonsensical road to excuse slavery. In one section he suggests the Constitution needed slavery to survive.

But his "hidden" views about our first Black president and the virtues of slavery only add to a long list of questionable sentiments DeSantis has shown over the years. In fact, DeSantis, for years served as a key speaker at a conference rife with racists and Islamophobes. He has also been fingered as one of the moderators for a Facebook group that espouses race-baiting, conspiratorial and hateful content which targeted everyone from "black Americans and South Africans, the 'deep state,' survivors of February's massacre at a Florida high school, immigrants, Muslims and, in recent days [to] John McCain,"

DeSantis has no business in politics and definitely shouldn't be the governor of a state with a large minority population. How can he be expected to govern in the best interests of all if he openly degrades the Hispanic, Black and Muslim Americans?

This man is a danger to all Floridians, not just minorities and he must step down because of his racist views.
