After more than half a decade of struggling and eight managers coming and going along the way, Aston Villa FC is finally paying the price for years of poor executive and managerial decisions.
Despite the league position and the state of the first team, where much publicized issues have emerged from players not acting professionally, to not wanting to leave and running down lucrative deals, to no signings being made in the window. Many Villa fans unbelievably still remain positive and this is solely due to the excellent appointment of Remi Garde. Despite only one win so far, many of us are seeing our beloved Villa fight harder, pass better and we know that if Remi is given time he will sort out the structure of the clubs youth, scouting, training and first team.
Our aim here is to show Remi that he made the right decision to join AVFC and that if he can just show us patience, we are a club worth fighting for. Even with the state we are in, with ten men, away in London, our fans still made a whole lot of noise and that is the kind of Villa that we all want to see more of.
Everything has gone against us since Remi has taken over from injuries to key players, ridiculous refereeing decisions, the FA blocking work permits that should have been permitted under dubious circumstances and inheriting a team devoid of confidence and with countless players who are happy to treat Bodymoor Heath like a spa.
We are signing this petition, not to force a decision and not in anger. Instead we are showing our appreciation and respect for Remi Garde, and we sincerely hope that he will stick by us in our time of need and not walk out on us. We will back him to the hilt and we believe that with a full preseason and time to shape the team, he can finally wake this sleeping giant up when the new season begins.
