Hirono 2020!

Our country's politics are running amok. To see that, one need not look much further than the allegations of sexual assault by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and Republicans' disturbing efforts to victim-blame, shame and bully her for coming forward with her story.

According to Dr. Ford, Kavanaugh and a friend — both "stumbling drunk" — corralled her into a bedroom during a party in the '80s when Kavanaugh pinned her down, groped her, and tried to remove her clothing. When she tried to scream, she said, he put his hand over her mouth.

Amongst the outcry across the country calling for Kavanaugh nomination to be rejected immediately, one brave Senator hasn't let up and is calling it like she sees it. In one interview about the allegations against Kavanaugh, Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii stated, "I just want to say to the men in this country: Just shut up and step up. Do the right thing, for a change."

In another, when asked about the notion that the GOP "has done everything we can to contact her," she responded, "that is such bullshit, I can't hardly stand it."

If Hirono's words don't restore your faith in humanity, I don't know what will. It's time that our country do the right thing by getting a woman of color who can truly serve as a champion of women and of all Americans into the highest office in the land. #Hirono2020!
